snow day, take 2

Yesterday we had another snow day, again called the night before. I was much more productive today, but still managed to relax and stay in my pajamas until I took a shower around dinner. It was like a mini-vacation, but it was so hard going back to school today. TGIF.

happy snow day

It's a bit amusing being in St. Louis. From the way the newscasters were talking last night, the storm of the century was on the way. It was pretty amazing have a snow day called the night before, though. I could stay up late and sleep in without being woken with the phone call.
This was last night around 8. It's a twister, Dorothy!

And the aftermath - pretty anticlimatic. But I'll take it!

I've been organizing old family slides from the 70s and 80s that my mom gave me over Christmas. There are several hundred. I can't wait to get them onto a disk.

This past weekend I took a couple of them to the camera store to see how they would turn out. The quality's not fantastic, but I suppose that's to be expected with 30 year old slides. I love the nostalgic feeling of them. I want my hair to be as long as my mom's was in college. And I want to be 6 years old on the beach again.

Cold golden rolling, sunlights spills on straw-like hills

I love winter light on grass and trees that are just waiting for spring. But I will be ready to see green soon. It is cold, cold, cold in St. Louis. With a few flurries. I've been spoiled by the mildness of this winter in comparison with what I'm used to, but I'm ready for spring. Just give me one snow day first.

hats hats hats

Saw a lot of fur hats while watching the inauguration festivities. I sort of need to have one now. I don't believe in killing animals for their fur, but these are sweet.

I also need Aretha's total bad-ass church lady crazy bow hat. Sing on, sister.

Went to Steve's, ate some sweet pie. Val was there. Katie, and Amy and Tom too. I can't play percussion to save my sweet life.

punctuality pays off

So I'm early/on time for everything. It's in my blood. I can't help it. When I try to purposely be late just to prove myself wrong, time stops or my car flies or the Red Sea parts or whatever and I inevitably arrive early to wherever I'm going.

Last night I was meeting some friends for dinner, and ran across to a thrift store while I was waiting. Score- old school purple aviators for 11 bucks. They had just come in that morning.

Also, I should not be blogging at school.

You Should Be Watching

Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel. He gives less prolific places an unbelievably alluring appeal, and more popular destinations an un-clichéd perspective. He can also wax poetic/philosophical without taking himself too seriously. And the food he finds.....

It is so cold in my apartment, but I'm really trying to keep my heat bill down. Bundle up! Which includes my Halloween mask to keep my cheeks warm. I need art on the wall behind me. I'm thinking of some photo projects. Ideas, dear internet??
