thanks, mama

This wasn't taken in black and white. My counter is just so damn gray
I ate lots of cookies today. Which is terrible because I went to the gym this morning and was all productive, then I totally ruined it. I also placed myself on self-imposed house arrest in order to work in report cards, but that hasn't gone so well either. I watched a movie and fell asleep, and woke up totally thirsty and starved (I don't think I drank enough water after the steam room and sauna at the gym.) So I made cheesy scrambled eggs and homemade garlic toast for dinner. It was so delicious. Scrambled eggs and toast is the kind of meal that I would have turned my nose up as a child. My poor exhausted mother would suggest it for dinner so that she could have somewhat of a respite from cooking, and we would all moan and whine. I love breakfast, but I am not a breakfast for dinner person. Until maybe now. And homemade garlic bread is so easy and so much better than any frozen bread I've had. I just put a couple of shakes of garlic salt into some softened butter, mash it, and spread it over slices from a baguette or other bread (not sliced loaf bread though). Then I bake the slices for 5 minutes at 350. I can totally control the garlic amount, sogginess, and crispness, which I can never do with pre-prepared garlic bread. Now back to the report cards.........

My mom mentioned that she's thinking about getting a cat, after a long time without one. So in honor of her dinner inspiration and love of cats, this is a photo of our old cat Muggles. Rest in peace, kitty.

dress to impress

I really want a springy dress from Anthropologie. They are so adorable. They have sort of a timeless, classic look to them. They are so pricey, but I would wear one more than once. I have 3 weddings this summer, and lots of frolicking to do, and.....

I've always loved polkadots. But does this one look too bumblebee-ish?

I think the colors in this one are my favorite. The darker colors would make it work in fall/winter with a shrug, but too dark for summer?

The ruffles are perfect.

blah de blah blah

I am super tired and cranky today. Which clearly the blogosphere needs to know. I didn't get anything accomplished yesterday that I wanted to. I did work out, and have epic phone chats, but did not do any work for school or my grad class. I wish my grad class were just done already. I also wish it were spring break, and that I could click my heels to travel, and that......

When I get bored/want to procrastinate I go through my old pictures. This was almost 4 years ago in Portland, Oregon. I'd like to go there again someday. Maybe I'll click my heels.

the aftermath

Lovely night with the ladies. Lots of laughter, pasta, bread and veggies, and coooookies.

Libby if you're looking at this, Hoopla is this Cranium spinoff. This should be part of the Sam Fam game repertoire.
A Pocketknife, by Val
I both love and hate cleaning the kitchen after a party. I like reminiscing about the good times as I put things away, don't like the actual cleaning part.
We played MASH and invented some new categories, like dealbreakers, where you met, and size - ha! Good times, good friends. I'm so grateful for Love.

celebrate love today.

happy valentines day

I experience romance vicariously through others. Helped my little brother make a cake for his adorable friend. Also, saw Eric Hutchinson and G Love at the Pageant. It was long, but they were phenomenal performers. Could have done without getting a contact high from the stupid high-schoolers blazing up joints during the show. More on flickr

when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie

Sometimes life sucks. Like when you've procrastinated until Saturday night to start a paper that's due Sunday. Thank goodness for friends who have work to do too. After seeing He's Just Not That Into You, Val and I went to school to crank out some work. I hit the wall around midnight and went home.

************

The movie was pretty funny. It helps if you've read the book. Yesterday it was 65 degrees. Amy and I hiked in the park for an hour and a half. It was great to get out and great to spend some time with Amy. We found some really funny, random stuff in the park that would be great for a photo shoot later.

Inauguration Swag

My aunt sent me some sweet stuff from Obama's inauguration (she lives/works in DC). An official inauguration ceremony guide, a paper, a button, and this sweet, sort of bootleg/ghetto T-shirt, which I will never wear in West County, but will wear when I visit DC.

downtown

Went downtown with Meredith to shoot some architecture. She is an amazing photographer. She gave me so much insight and so many things to think about. The late afternoon light was wonderful~
Thanks Mer
