getaway

my wonderful mother is on a spontaneous getaway with one of her bffs to Palm Springs - her first time in over 30 years on a vacation without taking kids or going to visit kids/family. I am dreaming of her enjoying desert air, sunny skies, vintage feel and palm trees. need to start thinking about my own little getaway with spring break approaching....

hashai live

I've been following decorator AB Chao's flickr and blog for years since I found her writing at a fun and snarky website I used to love, called Television Without Pity. She's finally turned her blog into a great decorating/inspiration/photo/trend-collecting place. So fun I think I'll put it on my Diversions list! Here~

I enjoy watching this guy on Hawaii Five-O on Mondays. And I'm not getting paid to write that.

ahhh

as my brother's fb put it: the first warm days after a cold winter, like food to a starving man.

60s and breezy these past few days....(very early) spring cleaning will commence today.

Vintage School Days

I'm guest blogging on some great etsy finds over at Tiptoe Through today! Check it out.
This week it's in the 50s/60s and sunny in Saint Louis. Think spring!

loved.

Probably the most fun holiday as a teacher. All the love without the craziness and costume changes of Halloween.
P.S. Homemade Valentines rock!

Musica Nueva

new music discovery....don't know how I didn't know about this awesome band, other than the fact that I'm not in college anymore and can't keep up with non-mainstream music....I digress. Some kiddos at my little brother's high school choir concert this weekend performed Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros "Home"...loving the sound....reminds me a little of Johnny Cash/June Carter, and a bit of Beirut with the insrumentals...take a listen and have a happy, loving day!

Spring Fling

I generally have an okay tolerance for cold weather, but this winter would seem to be different. I'm ready for spring. Dreaming about sweet dresses for the concerts, teas, graduations, and general frolicking that will fill up the upcoming months.

Hometown Pride

I could not have loved this commercial more. So proud to be from Detroit, even though I don't live there anymore. Also awesome - the Doritos commercials and Bridgestone Tire beaver commercial. After yesterday's party full of awesome snacks, I'm going to have to break down and get a Costco membership.

Housebound.

Bushes outside my apartment.....twill be covered with snow in the morning. The great storm of 2011 began to make its way into Saint Louis on Monday with lots of rain - we were sent home early from school (albeit, a little prematurely) and by Monday night, it had turned to ice....the roads were virtually undriveable and no one was out today. In fact, they've closed major interstates all around the state. Now the ice has turned to snow, so once again I'll be forced to sleep in and watch copious amounts of television tomorrow. Although a little productivity is on the docket too. Thank goodness the power hasn't gone out,. and hopefully the roads will be a little clearer by early afternoon, if only for a quick excursion to the store or starbucks. I like my laziness, but I'll be getting a little stir-crazy by tomorrow. Today started off well enough - I didn't slip while walking the dog, my 2 doors over neighbor/friend who grew up in Spain invited me over for churros and hot chocolate, and I sufficiently caught up on my DVR queue.
