too much?

this duvet? thoughts? I love the print....would I hate it in 6 months? too graphic? too cliche with the currently-ubiqitous peacock design? all the rage now...will it look neat and vintage someday or just cheesy? am I overthinking this? help, blogosphere!

the week ahead

-two and a half days of school (and half day = field day)

-finishing report cards....i've done surprisingly well getting a head start this weekend

-scrubbing the apt. top to bottom, including renting an upholstery cleaner

-hosting miss molly d. from thursday - sunday

-getting ready to go to michigan! early next week

-thus, lame/no blog posts will continue a little while longer

Have you seen these? They're the newest craze amongst all the girls at my school. Rubber bands shaped like animals that conveniently stretch into bracelets. Nothing will ever be better than the slap bracelet.

-this weekend the weather finally hit the 90s, with humidity - St. Louis summer is here
-supposed to be high 80s all week - air conditioner is officially on
-thank goodness I'm leaving for Michigan in 2 weeks
-not in the blogging mood lately....wait til summer
-last full week of school; I'm assessing all week. Next week = field day, half days and movies
-I desperately need to grocery shop; I ate out 3 nights this weekend
-this weekend I watched Valentine's Day and September Issue. Valentine's Day was fairly terrible, but I ended up getting it for free on demand because Charter was being weird. September Issue was really interesting.
-I've been eating mini Snickers in bed, after I've brushed my teeth. Shameful!

busy spring weekend. school play (reliving middle school drama glory days), coffee with a friend, coworker's baby shower tomorrow, picnic in the park, brother's bday....2.5 weeks of school left.

What do I do to vicariously relive high school weekends? Attend little brother's tennis tournaments and choir concerts, help said brother buy prom accessories, proctor the SATs (extra $!) Last night I also watched (ahem) two episodes of Laguna Beach Season One. Don't judge me. Happy weekend, kiddos.

Deep Blue Sea

teaching at a private school has its perks...today our administration rented out a movie theatre and took every 1st through 12th grader to see Disney Oceans to celebrate Earth Day. The plot is simple, basically following different species and seeing how the live, but the images and scenery are stunning and mesmerizing. I enjoy beaches pretty much above the surface (swimming and snorkeling is one thing, scuba diving no thanks for me), but it is amazing to think of all that goes on below the surface....

urgh. not a good week for blogging...not super inspired by stuff lately. I wandered over to we heart it for the first time in months....yes it is still a hipster haven with everyone trying to achieve the same artsy, vintage, unique but really copycat photos....but I sort of want to take some photos like that...maybe I'll actually pick up my camera again when school is done. 5 weeks til summer. goodnight.

nightmare on elm street

Through the glory of the blogosphere I've recently discovered West Elm Decor. A dream for my bedding needs, a nightmare for my bank account. I actually need some new bedding, as my dog has left her imprint on my vintage red and white toile duvet and shams. I'm happy to have her on my bed, but the hair and dirt have taken their toll. I need to dry clean it and store it away. This gray bedding might hide dirt more and given my room a fresher look anyway....I love the white too but that ain't happening while the pup's around.

So last night I helped chaperone a middle school dance at the school where I teach. And I was a little worried that the music would be like this all night.



There was a little of that. But I was pleasantly surprised. The DJ busted out some of this.



And even a little of this.



At one point there was some Jock Jams. It was like it was my own middle school dance 15 years ago.

Needless to say, the kids were blown away by my fierce 90s dance moves.
