K. Cop

Best movie quote ever? Certainly Top 10. I forgot how amazingly funny Ahhnold's "accent" makes everything sound in this movie. Thanks, random HBO channel.

so much for that

the great vacation blogging aspirations. gone, along with the vacation. i blame the snow. a 12 inch snowstorm in late march will take the wind out of anyone's sails....but i can't totally blame that. for whatever reason my vacation productivity was at a low this break...but springtime pursuits will be at an alltime high. the next 10 weeks should be a whirlwind indeed.

the long and winding post

This gorgeous amaryllis bulb is blooming in my mom's kitchen. Watching the progression of it every day (each shot = one day; last shot = today) has been the sole spring-like highlight of otherwise unspringlike weather. It has been in the 60s and 70s in Saint Louis; 30s and wet here. Melting snow, mucky mud, bare trees and gray gray gray gray skies everywhere. Remind me consistently to have a spring break coin jar throughout the year, so that I can go somewhere else. As much as I love Michigan, February and March are probably the least tolerable months of the year. It makes me so lethargic - yesterday my brother and sister in law spent about 5 hours straight watching Lost, and I spent about 5 hours watching a Harry Potter marathon on abc family. On the bright side, I reconfirmed that Goblet of Fire is my least favorite plot, and Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire are my least favorite movies. I love Order of the Phoenix a lot more than I remember. Blahhhhh.

verde-vert-grun

In honor of my non-existent Irish heritage, and, more importantly, my favorite color.

Vivan Los Viajes

My senior-in-high-school brother is currently embarking on his first trip overseas with members of his Spanish class...Madrid, Barcelona, Segovia, Salamanca, Avila....my heart is full of joy for the fact that he'll come back a changed person with wider world persepective...
gorgeous pictures from flickr photographer nigel swales

I saw this bumper sticker on the back of a minivan on my spring break drive the other day, a funny moment in an otherwise arduous trip. Glad this mom, whoever she may be, has a sense of humor.

ha ha

Truth be told, I still have a pretty crappy (but cheap!) phone and not an iPhone. So I don't really know if autocorrect is this bad, or if these are embellished a bit....nevertheless the screwups always make me laugh.

getaway

my wonderful mother is on a spontaneous getaway with one of her bffs to Palm Springs - her first time in over 30 years on a vacation without taking kids or going to visit kids/family. I am dreaming of her enjoying desert air, sunny skies, vintage feel and palm trees. need to start thinking about my own little getaway with spring break approaching....

hashai live

I've been following decorator AB Chao's flickr and blog for years since I found her writing at a fun and snarky website I used to love, called Television Without Pity. She's finally turned her blog into a great decorating/inspiration/photo/trend-collecting place. So fun I think I'll put it on my Diversions list! Here~

I enjoy watching this guy on Hawaii Five-O on Mondays. And I'm not getting paid to write that.

ahhh

as my brother's fb put it: the first warm days after a cold winter, like food to a starving man.

60s and breezy these past few days....(very early) spring cleaning will commence today.

Vintage School Days

I'm guest blogging on some great etsy finds over at Tiptoe Through today! Check it out.
This week it's in the 50s/60s and sunny in Saint Louis. Think spring!

loved.

Probably the most fun holiday as a teacher. All the love without the craziness and costume changes of Halloween.
P.S. Homemade Valentines rock!

Musica Nueva

new music discovery....don't know how I didn't know about this awesome band, other than the fact that I'm not in college anymore and can't keep up with non-mainstream music....I digress. Some kiddos at my little brother's high school choir concert this weekend performed Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros "Home"...loving the sound....reminds me a little of Johnny Cash/June Carter, and a bit of Beirut with the insrumentals...take a listen and have a happy, loving day!
